21/07/2023

During the last five years, the company has reduced its water consumption by 47% and its CO2 emissions by 39%.

The document, which goes in depth into the progress of the company's ESG strategy, focuses on its impact in three areas: People, Planet and Prosperity

Roca Group, the world leader in design, production and marketing of products for the bathroom, has published its Sustainability Report 2022. The company, with a firm commitment to sustainable development accredited throughout its century-long history, joined the United Nations Global Compact to continue working in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This commitment aims to generate positive impact in three main areas: People, Planet and Prosperity. Roca Group seeks to improve people's lives and contribute to the preservation of its environment by creating shared value that allows reinvestment, on one hand, for the development of quality jobs and, on the other, for the care of the environment.

Specifically, Roca Group's ESG strategy is developed along eight lines of work: decarbonisation; sustainable materials and circularity; sustainable products; personal development; commitment to society; sustainable supply chain; sustainable logistics; and promotion and communication of sustainability.

People: improving the quality of life inside and outside the organisation

Roca Group, with a workforce of more than 21,000 employees, has 90% of its contracts under permanent regime. Moreover, with a diverse team, it has now more than 80 nationalities in its global workforce.

Training is also an essential aspect for Roca Group. The company closed 2022 with more than 132,000 hours of training provided, evaluated with an average satisfaction level of 8.8.

Last year, the company also made donations of 2.15 million euros, including contributions channelled through its We Are Water Foundation, which already has more than 3.6 million beneficiaries and projects in 33 countries. To alleviate the effects of the conflict in Ukraine, donations of more than one million euros have also been made.

Planet: a year of record indicators

Being the water one of the fundamental resources in its production processes, Roca Group closes 2022 with a 47% decrease in consumption since 2018. Also in this period it has managed to reduce its direct CO2 emissions by 39%, approaching its goal of carbon neutrality by 2045.

Another key initiative of the group is the progressive electrification by boosting renewable energy sources. The company has more than 21,800 photovoltaic panels in its 76 factories around the world, and has already facilities that are 100% supplied with electricity from renewable sources in countries such as Spain, Portugal and Austria.

In terms of sustainable materials and products, circularity and eco-design are at the heart of Roca Group's strategy. The company continues to increase the use of recycled raw materials, with volumes of 20% in steel, 30% in brass and 65% in the cardboard of its packaging. On the other hand, since 2018 all group's factories have already managed to reduce waste generation by 46.5% and 74% of the waste generated is recycled or reused in production processes.

Prosperity: a long-term commitment

For Roca Group, participating in society and in people's lives implies a long-term commitment to generate shared value. Since its beginnings as a family business, Roca Group has sought to ensure that the generation of profits has an impact, not only on the employees and assets of the organisation, but also on society in general.

In 2022, the company reinvested 135 million in improving its industrial processes and facilities, boosting its digitalisation and reducing its impact on the environment. At the same time, it has continued investing in its corporate culture of innovation through cutting-edge partnerships and its CVC Roca Group Ventures and open innovation platform.

New transparency portal

As part of its commitment to transparency and communication of progress, Roca Group has launched the website www.rocagroup.com, where the group's Sustainability Report is available and the main indicators of the company's progress in the areas of People, Planet and Prosperity can be consulted.

This new site has been developed taking into account its environmental impact and following digital sustainability criteria to minimise the carbon footprint produced by the energy consumption of the devices when interacting with it. In addition, it is hosted on servers powered by certified renewable energy and is among the top 5% of the most sustainable websites on the internet according to various independent portals based on the Green Web Foundation's measurement criteria.
